Tiempo Heredado (2025)

Medium: Mixed media installation containing wood flooring, clay, textile, crochet, found objects, bronze, coconut, and archival materials

Dimensions: Approximately 40 × 20 × 9 inches

The use of my grandmother's crochet textiles is arranged the way I remembered her placing them throughout each of her homes. On the shelf mantle, I hung crochet pieces to create a painting of shadows cascading down the walls. In the center of the mantel is a ceramic bomba dancer, along with a bronze elephant facing the door, and a coconut. A ceramic linoprint of a photo I took during a recent trip to Puerto Rico, and a ceramic plate with a rooster etched into the clay. The elephant facing the door for good luck, the coconut to remove negative energy, and the soul of memories.
